Switch from YAZIO to Bento Bunny
Leave YAZIO without losing what matters. Request your data export, carry your calorie goal over, and switch to free photo-first logging. Step-by-step guide.

Why People Are Leaving YAZIO
YAZIO is one of the friendlier calorie counters out there — clean design, strong European food database, sensible fasting tracker. But the free tier has tightened steadily, the PRO upsells (roughly $30–50 a year as of mid-2026, depending on the running promotion) appear at every other tap, and the logging flow is still search-and-select for every item. If the recipes-and-fasting extras stopped earning their keep and you just want fast, honest tracking, this guide is the clean way out. (Comparing first? See Bento Bunny vs YAZIO and our YAZIO review.)
Step 1: Get Your Data Out of YAZIO
YAZIO doesn't have a one-button CSV export in the app the way MyFitnessPal does on the web, but you have two solid routes:
- Through the app's settings. Open your profile/settings in YAZIO and look for the account or data section — YAZIO provides access to your personal data from there, and PRO includes some export options. What's available varies by version, so check here first.
- Through a formal data request. YAZIO is a German company, which makes it firmly subject to GDPR regardless of where you live. Email their support and write: "I request a copy of all personal data you hold about me under Article 15 GDPR." They're legally required to deliver it, typically within a month, usually as a download of your logs and account data.
While you wait, screenshot your weight graph, your daily calorie goal, and your macro split — that's everything you need to continue your plan immediately. And if YAZIO has been syncing weight to Apple Health, your weight history is already on your phone, where Bento Bunny picks it up automatically.
Step 2: Set Up Bento Bunny
Download the Bento Bunny beta from TestFlight — free, no credit card. Onboarding takes about two minutes and sets a daily calorie goal, the same concept as YAZIO's. Bento Bunny doesn't yet have a one-tap importer for YAZIO's export format (those currently exist for MyFitnessPal and Cronometer), so keep your exported data as your personal archive and start your log fresh.
The day-to-day difference shows up immediately: instead of searching the database for each food, you point your camera at the plate and tap once. The AI identifies the food and estimates portions — and on iOS 26 and later it runs on-device with Apple's Foundation Models, so your meal photos never leave your phone and logging works offline.
Step 3: Carry Your Goals Over
From your YAZIO screenshots, enter into Bento Bunny's goal settings:
- Your daily calorie goal
- Your macro split (YAZIO shows carbs/protein/fat targets on the diary screen)
- Your goal weight and pace
Two minutes, and your plan continues without a gap. The streak counter resets; your actual progress doesn't.
What Maps to What
- Daily calorie goal and macro targets → identical concepts in Bento Bunny's goal settings.
- Meal sections (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) → the same meal types.
- Barcode scanner (limited on YAZIO's free tier) → included free in Bento Bunny.
- Weight tracking → syncs via Apple Health, history included.
- Fasting tracker → no direct equivalent in Bento Bunny; if you fast, a simple timer or Apple Health fasting app covers it alongside.
- Recipes and meal plans → YAZIO's content stays with YAZIO; your own favourite meals are a single photo away from being quick re-logs.
When to Cancel YAZIO PRO
No need to rush — PRO stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and cancelling early doesn't refund the remainder. Run both apps side by side for a few days, confirm your data request is in motion, then cancel before the renewal date so PRO doesn't auto-renew at $30–50 for another year (pricing as of mid-2026).
If you subscribed through the App Store: open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, tap YAZIO, and tap Cancel Subscription. If you bought PRO on YAZIO's website, cancel from your YAZIO account settings instead — your receipt email tells you which channel billed you.
What You Gain on the Other Side
Logging that takes a photo instead of a search. A barcode scanner that's free instead of metered. No PRO banner between you and your own diary. And the export door stays open on our side — your Bento Bunny data leaves with you any time, no GDPR letter required.
Ready to Make the Switch?
Send the data request, screenshot your goals, set the same numbers in Bento Bunny, and log dinner with a photo tonight. That's the whole migration.
