Switch from Lose It! to Bento Bunny
Leave Lose It! without losing your history. Export your CSV data, carry your calorie budget and goals over, and switch to photo-first logging. Step-by-step guide.

Why People Are Leaving Lose It!
Lose It! has been a solid, friendly calorie counter for over a decade, and plenty of people have lost real weight with it. But the free tier has narrowed over the years, the app leans harder on Premium upsells (around $40 a year as of mid-2026), and the logging flow is still fundamentally the same search-scroll-tap routine it was in 2015. If you've found yourself skipping dinner logs because you can't face another search box, the app has stopped doing its one job.
If you're still weighing the decision, our side-by-side Bento Bunny vs Lose It! comparison and our full Lose It! review cover the trade-offs honestly. This page is for when you've decided to move — here's how to do it without losing anything that matters.
Step 1: Export Your Lose It! Data
Lose It! does offer a CSV export, which puts it ahead of many competitors. The catch: it lives on the website, not in the mobile app.
- Sign in at
loseit.comon a computer. - Open your account settings and look for the data export option. Lose It! generates spreadsheet (CSV) files covering your food logs and weight history.
- Download and save the files somewhere safe — a cloud drive folder works well. Even if you never open them again, your history is yours and you've got it.
Bento Bunny doesn't yet have a one-tap importer for Lose It!'s format the way it does for MyFitnessPal and Cronometer, so treat this export as your personal archive. Your trend data is preserved, just outside the app.
One more tip: if you've had Lose It! syncing weight to Apple Health, your weight history is already in HealthKit — and Bento Bunny reads from Apple Health, so that part of your history carries over automatically.
Step 2: Set Up Bento Bunny
Download the Bento Bunny beta from TestFlight (it's free, no credit card). The onboarding takes about two minutes: it asks for your goal, your current stats, and sets a daily calorie budget — the same concept as Lose It!'s budget, so nothing here will feel foreign.
From day one, logging works differently: point your camera at your plate and the AI identifies the food and estimates portions in one tap. Barcode scanning is included free — no Premium tier required. On iOS 26 and later, the AI runs on-device using Apple's Foundation Models, so your meal photos never leave your phone.
Step 3: Carry Your Goals Over
Before you delete Lose It!, write down three numbers from your profile:
- Your daily calorie budget — Lose It! shows this on the home screen.
- Your goal weight and weekly rate — e.g. lose 0.5 kg per week.
- Your macro targets, if you set custom ones in Premium.
Enter the same targets in Bento Bunny's goal settings and your plan continues without a gap. Your streak resets, but your actual progress doesn't.
What Maps to What
- Daily calorie budget → Bento Bunny daily calorie goal. Same concept, same math.
- Meal sections (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) → identical meal types in Bento Bunny.
- Barcode scanning (Premium in Lose It!) → free in Bento Bunny.
- Snap It photo logging (Premium) → photo logging is the core free feature in Bento Bunny, not an add-on.
- Weight tracking → syncs via Apple Health, including your history.
- Saved foods and recipes → don't transfer; photograph a favourite meal once and it's quick to re-log.
When to Cancel Your Lose It! Premium Subscription
Don't cancel on day one. Run both apps in parallel for a few days, make sure your export downloaded correctly, and confirm Bento Bunny fits your routine. Cancelling doesn't refund the remainder of your term — you keep Premium until the period ends — so there's no rush, but there's also no reason to let it auto-renew at roughly $40 a year (as of mid-2026).
If you subscribed through the App Store: open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, tap Lose It!, and tap Cancel Subscription. If you subscribed on the Lose It! website, cancel from your account settings at loseit.com instead. Check your original receipt email if you're not sure which one billed you.
What You Gain on the Other Side
The honest pitch: Lose It! is a good search-based tracker, and Bento Bunny is a photo-first tracker. Instead of searching, scrolling, and portioning every item, you take one photo per meal. Most people's daily logging time drops from ten-plus minutes to about two. No ads, no paywalled barcode scanner, and your data exports back out any time — we're not building a roach motel.
